Tonight, the wheel of time turns, and the hands of the clock move through time in a magically colorful palette of sounds.

In Turina’s Circulo we hear the cycle of a single day: the stillness of dawn, the fierce heat of the midday sun, and the melancholic calm of dusk.

Time is also memory. Ravel often spoke about his mother’s Basque roots and the Spanish songs she sang to him. The Habanera is a dreamy memory of a sun-drenched past. Enescu takes us back to the magical world of a child. Impressions d’enfance conjures up a whole universe: from a lonely folk violinist, a bird chirping, or the crowing of a rooster, to the silvery light of the moon, and the terrifying wind in the chimney.

Under the threat of an impending world war, the fragile Ravel works feverishly on his c Piano Trio in A minor.It is a literal race against the clock: Ravel is determined to complete this masterpiece before volunteering at the front. "I work with the sureness and lucidity of a madman," he wrote. The trio became an absolute masterpiece.

With musicians of this caliber—pianist Daniël Kramer, violinist Shannon Lee (4th prize Queen Elisabeth Competition 2019), and cellist Pamela Smits—it’s going to be electrifying.
